This site (and a lot of the people who rave about it) is usually the butt of all my friends' jokes. Sorry, that's kind of mean. But it's true. I don't want to make anybody feel bad. It's just that a lot of the people who tout the Free Capitalist, make it look like the Amway suckers club, or like the girls in college that got $10/hr jobs and therefore went out and bought $25k cars at 12% interest rates, just to feel sexy. Trust me, I knew them well. Nobody is impress at what your bank owns. That's just the taste that is left in my mouth after a run-in with a self-proclaimed free capitalist.

But I will say that the end of this article and pieces of all the comments, well, opened my mind. :)

1. "A Capitalist walks by the same house and sais 'All men should be this rich.'"

That's where you Rand-ites don't get loud enough!!! If I read that a little more, I would see this group a little differently. It's not true that anyone who shakes their head at the wasteful or the mass-consuming is a COMMUNIST. It's simply that they don't know a.) The guy with the big house and ferraris PROBABLY wants as much for everyone else as he wants for himself, and b.) The guy with the big house and ferraris would probably share any of it with his friend (hence the comment from the person who lends his cars out when his friends' are in the shop). That's the stuff that doesn't get said enough. Honestly, my "free capitalist" spouting HS buddy sounds like such a moron because all he talks about is his caddie and his mansion. What nobody hears is when he reaches out to old old friends and offers help whenever he sees that they might be in need. I'm not saying be conspicuous in your outreach. I'm just saying, it would be more visible if he were less conspicuous in his flashiness. (Is that a word?) He is not a greedy pig. He just seems to want to look like one. He is very sweet, generous and good-natured.

2. "Anyone can get a fancy car or big house. It’s training yourself on how to keep it." I didn't get this message from the article, but I really enjoyed reading it in the comments. There is something to be said for being financially committed to what you borrow, not just renting your cars and house from the bank that holds your lien. The minute the shady loan or interest rate shifts, the huge mortgage (and its collateral) are taken from you. Anyone could get a mortgage the last few years, on pretty much any house or car. Look around at how many of them are losing the rights to those things because their own financial standing did not back up the agreement they had with the lender. You are absolutely right. It's not the acquiring, it's the maintaining.

"Peace of mind has no price. Your family’s love is endless." When I hear a little more of that from my FC friends with Escalades...the image of this organization, of this school of thought, will gain so much more clout. I promise you. The haters will respond positively when they can see that our value systems aren't all that different. If your goal is to open minds that would otherwise be shut to you, I urge you to highlight the other great parts of what you believe. "Great things take time. Don’t look for the quick easy money. Look for the smart money."

You have my attention now.

I love the article. Its funny how people react to feeling scared or upset that there neighbor "seems" to be doing better then them. I live in a nice home in a nice neighborhood. I've paid off my truck that I love and my wife new car. I have no credit card dept or school loans nor 401k loans. People ask me how I keep a steady job working for a cable company and live they way I do. I guess you can say I'm self educated. My wife is finishing her Masters Degree in the medical field. She loves college and education. I learn differently. I have to "DO". Not so much as being bored in a class that I really don't know why I'm there other then I need the credit. My wife tell me sometimes that I'm showing off. I respond that she is incorrect. I am proud of myself and what we have accomplished together. I grew up in poverty. My mother as a young boy would send me to get groceries at the store because she was embarrassed to use the food stamps. Both my parents worked for as long as I can remember. My Father would work 2 sometimes 3 jobs just to make sure we had a good Christmas and food on the table. So to those reading my comment. Please understand it's not the car nor the house. Its the people inside that make the difference between you and them. Take the time to teach your self to become better. Doesn't mean go buy a fancy car or a big house. Just means making your life happier. Don't be afraid to try new things. You will fail. I promise. But you keep trying hard enough and you will succeed in more ways then money. You will be happy and your family will have a completely different look. Even if you don't buy a "car". It's they way you look at yourself in the mirror. Be proud of who you are. Don't be so quick to judge someone buy there car or big house. Anyone can get a fancy car or big house. It's training yourself on how to keep it. Peace of mind has no price. Your family's love is endless. People can sense what kinda person you are without a big house or car. The article made so much sense. Most people are visual. They see something they desire and they want to know how to acquire it. Simple... research. The economy may seem really bad. But it's not as bad as you think. Prepare your self for moments like these. Your family always needs shelter, food and clothing. I took a lot of falls and failures. All I can say is "GET UP" and go get that fancy car. You can do it. You know you are capable. I came from a wonderful family. We didn't have much but I look at what my Wife and I have accomplished. We did it as a team. Support is huge. I thank God everyday for her. That was the missing sports car in my life. She made it possible to believe in myself even when everywhere I looked everyone criticize me. I forgive them. They know not what they do. But I hope this letter helps someone out there that reads it. Wealth is started with a conversation. A friendship or partnership. Be careful and make sure people your dealing with are honest. And be honest with them and you'll see. Great things take time. Don't look for the quick easy money. Look for the smart money. And I leave you with this note. You don't need money to be wealthy, if you can figure that out, then you have it made. Peace out I love you all.

I never understood exactly how or why people could get angry when they saw a nice car , a nice house , or someone generally wealthy. A communist walks by a mansion with 7 ferraris parked outside and angrilly sais. "NO MAN SHOULD BE THIS RICH" ( he was in the scarcity paradigm). A Capitalist walks by the same house and sais "All men should be this rich".

Even if people couldnt understand why Les , Rick , Gabe would drive those cars, Ideas have consequences , it was obvious that the consequences that were happenning as a result of their ideas were pretty good. So one would surely know. Whatever the reason , im sure it was a good one.
